So much of this debate and the comments illustrate the porfound misunderstandings that most theists have about what atheism is, and for that matter, what theism and deism are.

And the comments section is hardly the place to build greater understanding, so I wont bother trying. If a longer conversation or email exchange is desired, I'll invite the author to reach out.

I am certainly "unable," ...to use your term.

In my most generous moods, I find theists and deists to be in the same category as a sweet child eagerly awaiting a visit from Santa. In my worst moments, I harbor the belief that magical thinking (and the associated belief in gods) is the fatal flaw of the human brain, and that it will eventually get us all killed. Which makes me very sad and resentful.
